I've been thinking about creating a custom create links where a dialog is displayed and a few link attributes have to filled in before the link is allowed to be created. |
Re: Alternate create link
I am pretty sure there is no way to really "hook" link creation, since this function is built in the module editor and is not controllable by dxl. I am also not aware of any way to determine link start and link end. This makes creating a custom link dialog quite hard.
createMenu(alwaysOn,"Link", 'L', null )
createItem linkStartItem
createItem linkClearStartItem
createItem linkCompleteFromItem
createItem linkCompleteToItem
createItem (linkStartItem, "Make Link New", 'L','L',null, null, null, null, "C:\\TEST.dxl")

Yes, there seems to be a problem to hook the link creation. Removing the standard drag-and-drop seems a bit brutal, as it is only one or two modules that this is needed for... Object source -> [string linkModuleName ->] Object target
does not return a link, but one is created. It does not seem elegant to loop over all links from "source object" and check if it goes to "target object", but that's the only idea I have. |

Ideed the ::->() operator returns a link. The relevant perms are: Link ::-> (Object, Object) Link ::-> (Object, Object) Link ::-> (OutLinkRef__, Object) Link ::-> (OutLinkRef__, Object) OutLinkRef__ ::-> (Object, string) OutLinkRef__ ::-> (Object, string)
